Swinerton: The “LEED™” Builder at Evergreen Valley College in San José

Swinerton Builders was recently awarded the $23 million Performing/Visual Arts Center project at Evergreen Valley College in San José. The Art Center’s main components include an Arts Building, a Music Building and a Theater Center. The three-building complex will house art, general classrooms and performance spaces, a 125-seat black box theater, a 450-seat performance hall, and an exhibition hall. Preconstruction services are underway and construction is set to begin in January 2005. Swinerton is providing CM/GC services for the project.

The project is pursuing a LEED™ Silver/Gold Rating through siting, solar orientation, building materials, and energy & water efficiency. The architect for the project is Sasaki Associates and the MEP Engineer is Arup.

This is Swinerton’s third consecutive project for the San José/Evergreen Community College District. The firm recently completed the Evergreen Valley College Library and High Technology Building valued at $17 million and will soon begin construction of the San José City College Math & Science Building valued at $16 million.
