The 175,000-square foot Library/Information Technology Center (LITC) is organized into two cast-in-place, standard reinforced concrete wings. The Library Wing is four-stories tall, the Office (west) wing is three-stories tall. The two wings are connected by a “Lantern”, which is a clean geometric four-story volume, of combination cast-in-place concrete and steel structure, clad with clear glass and aluminum panels on all sides to provide optimal views of the surrounding landscape and interior courtyard. The exterior walls of the wings are comprised of exposed architectural cast-in-place structural concrete. The glazing system is an infill of clear glass with strategically placed opaque glass, aluminum panels and cement plaster, metal sunshades and light shelves.
